In the past our MGIS students have taken CSCI 5980 (Spatial Computing) as well as CSCI 8715; both of these courses are wonderful additions to our GIS course offerings especially for our students who are interested in pursuing a minor in your program or who have a focused interest in these topics related to GI Science. In fact, CSCI 5980 has been used by some of our students to meet one of our course requirements for which they must take an additional 5000-level course with an advanced GIS focus. Likewise, CSCI 8715 can be used to satisfy our 8000-level course requirement with an advanced GIS focus. We are very fortunate to have a strong partnership with computer science and Dr. Shekhar specifically through the offering of such courses that support our students with interests in this area. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding our support for regularizing the undergraduate course in spatial computing. Best wishes, Susanna -- Susanna McMaster, Ph.D. Co-Director, MGIS Program Geography Department University of Minnesota 414 Social Sciences Bldg. 267 19th Avenue S.
