Course is designed for environmental engineers, emphasizing the role of microorganisms in environmental bioremediation, pollution control, water and wastewater treatment, biogeochemistry, and human health. Laboratory sessions will cover basic microbiological techniques including: isolation, identification and enumeration of pollutant-degrading bacteria; determination of BOD; identification and enumeration of indicatory organisms; activated sludge kinetics; disinfection.
