2012 South East Minneapolis Learning Carnival
Saturday 29th, 2012, 1-4pm

The USLI Rocket Team volunteered at the South East Minneapolis Learning Carnival by teaching students different activities that involved Physics.  We ran three activity, which included Straw Rockets, Pneumatics, and Angular Acceleration.  Each student was able to build their own Straw Rocket and then launch it from a specially designed pressurized launcher. They had the opportunity to change not only the design of the rocket, but also change the angle of the launcher to see if the rocket would go a certain distance.  They also had fun with the Pneumatics activity which involved a pressurized can and tennis balls. Lastly, the Angular Acceleration activity was great for older students to experience how angular acceleration actually works. Each student held a large spinning bike tire then they controlled which way they turned on a rotating chair. Both the students and the volunteers had a lot of fun!
