Plume from explosion of fragment C of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 as seen
by the South Pole Infrared Explorer (SPIREX). These are 2.36 micron
near infrared data. Images are shown before impact, and 4 minutes
later. These observations were performed by University of Chicago and
Center for Astrophysical Research in Antarctica (CARA) Astrophysicists
