The majority of NASA internship opportunities can be accessed through the ONE STOP SHOPPING INITIATIVE (OSSI) with its corresponding Student On-Line Application for Recruiting (Interns, Fellows, and Scholars) (SOLAR) website at http://intern.nasa.gov/ then select a “Launch” link for the program(s) that interest you. Here you can complete a single application then be considered for internship opportunities at multiple NASA research centers! Go to https://intern.nasa.gov/solar/web/public/main/index.cfm?solarAction=video (cut and paste link text if necessary) to see instructional videos. SOLAR summer 2012 opportunities application deadline: extended to March 16, 2012, but offers will start going out in early February so it would be best to apply by the original deadline of February 1, 2012. Internships are sponsored by the MN Space Grant Consortium. New internship opportunities are posted regularly, so check back often!

(Posted 1/19/2012) NASA offers paid undergraduate and graduate level internships in a wide variety of disciplines.Over 200 internships are available.The deadline is March 1^st, but offers may begin going out as early as Feb. 2^nd. NASA Academies are for students interested in Leadership in aerospace-related careers. “Classic” Academies (AKA “Space” Academies) are available at Glenn Research Center, Ames Research Center, and Marshall Space Flight Center. (Note – You can also apply to the “Classic” Academy at Goddard Space Flight Center through the One Stop SOLAR web page – see above.) “Aeronautics” Academies at Glenn Research Center, Ames Research Center, Dryden Flight Research Center, and Langley Research Center. There is also a “Lunar and Planetary Science” Academy at Goddard Space Flight Center plus a “Propulsion” Academy and a “Robotics” Academy at Marshall Space Flight Center. Historically we have been successful in placing students with the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Space Grant Internship Program, the Marshall Space Flight Center Space Grant Research (MSGR) Internships, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Space Grant Internship Program, and with the many programs at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) (some of which target specific applicant groups). Opportunities will all be posted through the SOLAR website as they become available (see #1 above). Both 10-week-long summer internships and 15-week fall/spring semester-long internships exist. Application deadline for summer 2012 internships: February 1, 2012. (Semester-long internships will have separate deadlines.) Internships sponsored by the MN Space Grant Consortium.

NASA Undergraduate Student Research Program (USRP) is NASA’s largest nationwide internship program for undergraduates.
