Oliver 'Ollie' Kaldahl

It's with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Oliver 'Ollie' Kahldahl.

Oliver Kaldahl was a long-time aerospace workshop instructor and director. he worked with our department from 1972 to 1998. Throughout his life he was dedicated to providing aviation and space education to young people and their teachers. 

He was the founder and first instructor for the first aeronautics summer school program in the state of Minnesota in 1967 and the first junior high school aerospace program in 1968. 
He joined our department in 1972 and taught a summer aerospace workshop for teachers through 1998.  Through this workshop he introduced hundreds of educators to aerospace curriculum and activities; providing enhancements to aerospace curriculum for both elementary and secondary teachers. 
His achievements were recognized by the Department of Transportation; Division of Aeronautics; the Federal Aviation Administration; the World Aerospace Education Association; and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. 
He spent 29 years in public junior and senior high school education and 22 years in post-graduate workshop instruction.  He was also in the U.S. Navy Air Force, worked as a private pilot and an advanced ground school instructor. Kaldahl was a graduate of St. Olaf College and did his post-graduate work at Mankato and St. Cloud State University.
