Student

The object of my internship at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is the design of a seismic payload which may potentially be sent to Mars during the 2016 Astrobiology Field Laboratory mission. The payload study, design, and (hopeful) build is geared to be a legacy project for Space Grant students, and our group is laying the groundwork with science studies and initial design. I am working on a team of 8 students representing Space Grant Consortiums in Idaho, Washington, North Dakota, Missouri, Massachusetts, and of course Minnesota. During this summer’s project, we have been and will be closely mentored by experienced “JPL-ers” covering a wide breadth of technical expertise in order to provide a valuable learning experience for us personally as well to produce a viable design.
