UMN hosts 62nd Annual APS Division of Fluid Dynamics Meeting
The 62nd Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society's (APS) Division of Fluid Dynamics (DFD) will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from November 22nd to 24th, 2009. The meeting is hosted by the University of Minnesota, and will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis. Chairing the Organizing Committee is AEM faculty member Prof. Krishnan Mahesh.

The objective of the Division of Fluid Dynamics is to advance and disseminate knowledge in all areas of fluid mechanics. The event itself will bring over 1700 participants from 40 countries into downtown Minneapolis. Experts in the area of fluid dynamics including industry professionals, university faculty and graduate students will present papers on their research over the course of the three day meeting.
Mahesh comments, "We are excited to be hosting the DFD Annual Meeting which has been in planning since 2007. The DFD Annual Meeting has had a profound impact on a lot of us, and w e feel privileged to give something back to the community."
The meeting also features the Gallery of Fluid Motion, which consists of computational and experimental still images and videos submitted by attendees. A panel selects outstanding entries based on artistic value, scientific content, and originality. Other special events include vendor exhibits, student luncheons with senior members, education workshops and awarding of the Fluid Dynamics prize.
