Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), commonly called drones, were originally developed for military applications. However the applications that drones can do keeps growing in the aviation sector and has helped make advancements in research and the commercial enterprises in the civilian sector. They can be used for studying the flight patterns of birds, monitoring the Arctic, surveying areas affected by an earthquake, policing, firefighting, non-military security work, and more.
