A postdoctoral associate or research associate is sought to work on an NIH-sponsored project concerning microfluidic cell processing. The objective of the study is to develop improved methods of post thaw processing of stem cells using microfluidic devices. The investigation will include experimentation based on device design and geometry as well as flow conditions. Experimental techniques will include flow visualization, cell tracking, particle and ultrasound velocimetry, and chemical analysis of cell response. The experiments will be supplemented by numerical analysis. The postdoctoral or research associate will interact with the project P.I.'s and graduate students in the overall investigation.

The duration of the position is for a minimum of one year with expected renewal for a second year. Starting date is anticipated as Spring or Summer, 2006. Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in engineering or applied science. Candidates must have demonstrated experimental, analytical, and communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate should be self motivated and able to work independently.
