I'm a senior in the Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. This scholarship will help me continue my eduation into graduate school, an option that can prove to be a fiscal obstacle to itself. My intention to be an aerospace engineer tracks back to my time in elementary school. Since then, my family would always sport the fact that I was going to be a 'rocket scientist'. Others assumed I would become an astronaut. The AEM program teaches students to identify and think critically about problems. I'll be walking away from this program with a different mindset towards problem solving, which is essentially entirely encompassed by the process towards a solution, rather than the solution itself; a wholesome life lesson really.
The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics maintains a strong relationship with our alumni, and continuously works to provide services and opportunities for alumni to stay in touch with the department and with each other.
