A note on our meeting location; it will be located in Akerman 227 at 6pm. Also, student paper conference abstracts are due on Feb 8th. UROP projects are eligible for applying as well.
Hey Everybody! I hope your winter break was great and relaxed and that classes are going well so far! Our first spring general meeting for the AIAA UMN chapter will be next week, Thursday February 7th at 6:00pm. We will be giving out T-shirts to those who attended 2 meetings in the Fall or have attended one meeting and this will be their second attendance. I hope to see all of you there!
A correction in the previous post on tonight's lecture series. Dinner is only free for professional members of AIAA, but the student chapter will be providing pizza for those who attend that are part of the student chapter. Hope to see you there!
There is an upcoming event on Tuesday, December 11th. It will be a lecture series on Guidance, Navigation, Control and everything related to Avionics. It will take place from 6-8pm in the Akerman Hangar. Dinner will be provided. It will be free for members and $15 for non-members (dinner). I encourage everyone to attend to find out the lastest news and research in Avionics.
The next general meeting will be this Thursday, November 15th at 7pm in Akerman 225. We will be discussing career development and how to boost your resume, what to put on your resume, and some companies to contact or research when looking for internships. After this, if time permits, we will be having a current event forum, where we will have an open discussion on what is going on in the aerospace industry.
The RC plane project has decided to meet on Tuesdays at 6pm. We will meet in the AIAA lounge (Aker 130D) and go over to the fieldhouse to fly from there. The Cansat meetings will take place on Thursdays from 6-7pm in Akerman 225 (stick around right after for our general meeting!).
We will be having our first general meeting of the semester this Thursday, Oct 25th at 6pm in Akerman 225. The meeting will discuss general information about the group and our events and projects that our planned for the year. There will be free pizza and pop provided. I hope to see you all there!

The final meeting of the Spring 2012 Semester will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at at 6:00 p.m. in Akerman Hall 227. Officer elections for next year will be held, so make sure to attend. We will also be having a presentation from Danny Blaha of Exclusive Aviation, a local flight school. If you have ever been interested in getting a pilot's license, this is a great place to start.
Are you interested in becoming more involved in the aerospace engineering community? The UMN AIAA has several vacant officer positions for next year. We are currently looking for a new Webmaster and a new Outreach Coordinator. If you are interested in either one of these positions please contact us at "aiaa AT-SYMBOL aem.umn.edu".

The next general meeting will be held on Thursday, April 12 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Akerman Hall 317. This meeting will focus on current issues related to space exploration. We plan on discussing:
This Thursday Mike Brown, a professor of planetary astronomy at the California Institute of Technology, will be giving a talk titled "How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming". The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Tate Laboratory of Physics, Room 150 and is hosted by the Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics. More details can be found here.
AIAA will be taking a group of students to "Yuri's Night" on Friday, April 13 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Tate Laboratory of Physics.
We will meet at 7:00 p.m. in the Akerman Hall Hangar. If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP to

of 51 year of human space exploration. The event is hosted by the Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics. This is a great opportunity
to meet other aerospace engineering students as well as interact with physicists and astrophysicists, who often work side by side

Come see how the 'Future of Engineering' is being shaped! See presentations by 'Engineers of the Future' as the Unviersity of Minnesota student AIAA and SAE chapters will be giving presentations on the projects they have been involved in, and see an overview from the SAE Heavy Lift Competition senior design team. there will aslo be displays by three of the Senior Design Teams and a tour of the UAV lab. See how current engineering research will lead to future technology advances as Associate Professor Demoz Gebre-Egziabher (Aerospace Systems) and Distinguished McKnight Professor Richard James (Solid Mechanics) will give presentations on their research.
